Publication, poem and collage series, 2018

‘Arrangements’ consists of 27 works on paper, a poem created from their titles and an A5 print publication.

This series began when I accidentally acquired two identical copies of a vintage book on flower arranging.
The double imagery and repetition in these pieces echoes the process of making - turning the pages to search for imagery, measuring, cutting, and so on. The visual patterns also represent the rhythm of daily routine and domestic familiarity. Colourful, abstract forms are layered onto the assembled papers to draw attention to the photographic imagery, mimicking the the shapes of the vases and plants.

How they grow
Living jewels
Swimming, slithering
Steadily through the waves
Meeting points
Endless cycles
Measure the distance
Between a two-way mirror
A thorn in the fold

Red stripes
Hovering above
Camera shelves
Reflecting leaves
Hear it drop
Surface water
Breaking the glare
Push up gently
Cold breeze
Pink fragments
Balancing branches
Shaped by the elements
Light beams
In the night

The A5 publication is available from my online shop and at:
